Should I use 64 bit Windows XP?
One of my students bought a new laptop and due to the monopolistic practices of Microsoft had no option to get XP and ended up with Vista. Well to make a long, and ugly, And the only laptop I've ever seen running Solaris (in the last 3 years) was a Mac and I know you'd not want to associate with one of those.

Find yourself a *nix LiveCD, boot to that, and then browse the Vista file system to delete the file (I think). I know it'd work in XP. have to hope it does Linux CD to fix your Vista install. Microsoft doesn't make Live Linux CDs (or live CDs at all). You don't want to get crosswise with your Vista EULA, pal.

You have to do THAT (disconnect the cable of the drive you don't want changed), set the drive you're installing to "Cable Select" (generally no jumpers installed) and put it in the end or MASTER of the cable. My goal is to setup and configure the "Community MySQL server" on my "Vista" laptop. Yeap I understand that you can'rt install both vista and xp on the same machine, and have them running at the same time. eg a dell windows xp installation CD If you've legally obtained both an XP Pro license and a Vista Business/Utlimate license, then yes, you can downgrade and upgrade whenever you want.
